this is my 1734 steil. this started about two weeks ago, it is just like a big blister. i scraped it out and put sulpher powder on it, but it is still oozing crap, and getting bigger we only have about two weeks until our comp. is there anything i should do, other than pray.???

here is the 1947 clements; it is going really well, but it grew a heap more out the front than i thought, and has split the vine, which is going bad. [ yes, my mistake.] i just wonder if i should cut it off or not, with two weeks to go? it is still putting on a little bit of weight, but has almost stopped growing.the fruit itself is fine;

this doesn't look good it is oozing out crap that looks like sap and a real golden colour. this spot is about half as big as a tennis ball,and is going soft to touch. same story, two weeks to go, i sadly don't think it will make it ;;;

well, here is my effort for this season; i am so happy with these results. my aim was to try to get one weighing 1,000 lbs i would have been extremely happy with that.we had to pick them early, because one had a bit of a soft spot in it, and had to be picked, so we could get it in under cover, where it is cooler; many thanks to Steve, who drove his tractor 15 miles out to my place, and picked the three up and weighed them. i couldn't have done it without Steve and Helen, who took one back in her ute, and i drove my ute with the trailer; because i am out of town, we picked the three while Steve was here, with his tractor;; if i wasn't hooked before, i definitely am now; 1317-clements=1135 lbs 1947-clements=1143 lbs 1734-steil =1331 lbs i am just waiting until jan 30th for our competition; thank you to all the people on bp.com for all there help with seeds and some great advice. i now want to grow one big enough to repay the favor, and send some seeds back; i wish you all good luck in your upcoming season.

well, our season has come to a close; i took these photo's early, before we all got too busy.we had a very successful competition, and a few new growers achieved pb's.my good friend dale oliver won again this year, but i'm getting closer.so i will just have to try harder next season; dale's pumpkin weighed;-674-kgs/ 1488-lbs; i came second with ; -595-kgs/ 1313-lbs; so overall, i am very happy with the results. a personal best for me by a long way. my best before was 720-lbs; the watermelons also went very well for us. our winner was 181-lbs which was also a pb for the grower. i would like to thank all the great people on big pumpkins .com, for all there help with some excellent seeds and advice, which was greatly appreciated by all of our members. it is good to have our seasons at different times so we can learn all we can from seeing how you guy's grow. we are already looking forward to next season; we wish you all the very best of luck, and good fortune for your upcoming season, and we will be keenly watching your progress. kind regards from the members of summerland giant growers association. way down here in Australia;

here is my 1734-steil.after the competition, i thought i would bring it home in the truck, and get some seeds from it, and then feed it to my cows. i backed up to a big post in the cattle yards, put a rope around it and drove off, thinking it would break up so i could get my seeds. when i dragged it off the truck i heard a big thud as it hit the ground. it just landed on it's blossom end, and sat there,right where it landed, no cracks or split at all; 1313 lbs landing on it's end from about 4.5 foot up. should be pretty thick.
