Here she is. Female bud sitting around 17 feet out on the main vine. Pollination is roughly a week away.
Hard not to like the look of that bright yellow. Fingers crossed it translates to a deep orange pumpkin always a promising sign, but Im unsure with the 2741 genetics.
One thing I've been focused on this season that doesn't get much discussion in the community is extending the cell division window beyond the traditional 0-20 DAP focus. This year I'm treating cell division as a continuum starting from the moment the female bud first appears in the growing tip, all the way through day 28 after pollination. The pre-anthesis cytokinin loading, triacontanol applications, and hormone work happening right now are all geared toward maximizing the cell count ceiling before the flower even opens.
Im not sure 17ft will be far enough out, but beggars can't be choosers and I like what I see so far.
