It seems that most of these catface tomatoes have some degree of brown stuff, I know it's not the same as this rotted thing I'm playing with but I want to know if it can be healed as my research points to a lack of calcium due usually to inconsistent watering, rather than disease or bacteria. Research also states BER fruit cannot be saved- I don't believe everything I read nowadays. Is it BER? I'm not short on calcium or magnesium, and have done my best to consistently water. Point being, what if Porkchop threw Chopzilla to the compost pile weeks ago???? When all it needed was some tender love and care. Apples to oranges but same principle.

Yes... the brown stuff that u scraped can be healed and get to the end...they just don't do as good as when they don't have it..but whatever is causing that issue...head the other way and not only will you not see either of those symptoms, pick the right flower and you'll drop bombs. Good luck!!

And it's not a matter of being short on calcium... or high for that matter... it's a problem with it getting into the plant/fruit...I've checked all the usually suspects and still scratching my head...I'm down to trying more phosphorus early or more consistent watering.

Thanks Chop, now I'm learning! I think the cause was remnants of blossom that stayed moist in between the folds? Maybe I could have caught it earlier or like you said, pick a better blossom.
