Go Henry! Keep that animal chugging. I have not watered since 7/27 and it's not necessary when you dig down a couple inches. Ian Paton personally told me at the convention, they rarely feed after fruit set- thats why you amended in the spring. Nitrogen leaches but least needed this phase of grow. 30 times 30=900

Natural rainfall might be enough... During the shorter days of August (and if there is dew in the morning) they may not use as much water and yet still make good gains.

Forcing the roots deeper into the subsoil might get them below the more diseased layers of soil? I've begun to think about this as a trick for avoiding disease.

Thanks guys! I agree with your thinking there! I think the roots have enough moisture a few inches down. While it is dry up top, I don't think it is as dry below as I wouldn't be getting the gains that I have been getting and the disease layer may be more on top rather than deeper down maybe. Hoping I can keep this thing going!
