Morning all!
My name is Susan Hester Edmunds, and yes according to the information in my great aunt's papers (Olive Hester) I can claim as a relative William Hester, who developed the Hester squash. For several years I have been searching in the traditional vendor's offerings Hester squash seeds with no luck.

So I was delighted when for whatever reason (computers are sometimes just confusing) a message on your Squash Growing forum from 4/14/2011 popped up with Cornelius in Oregon searching for "any of the new line of Hester squash? 1029, 885, 750 or 729?"

Of course I wish to try to grow some in here in humid south Louisiana, (blue hubbards grow well) and would love to purchase seeds.

In addition I am curious if members of your group, in addition to exchanging/selling seeds continue with hybridization work. How exciting if that is the case!

The Oregon "Hester" squash were grown by Brett Hester, not sure he is still growing and I believe he change is last name a few years ago, not sure what it is

Yes Dan is correct, Brett Hester from Oregon grew a few big squash back around the year 2000 onwards, However his squash came from other growers' seeds back then. He's the only Hester I know of? Have never heard of William or the "Hester squash"? Good luck in your pursuit.
