I've recently been realizing in tomatoes that the petals may keep the humidity up for the purpose of preserving both the pollen and stigma from premature dessication... drying before all the pollen tubes have grown down into the ovary. Dont let premature dessication ruin your plant's love life.
There's so much we dont think about.
