I had noticed squash bugs and spotted lantern fly nymphs hiding under the nodes so I'm assuming they were responsible for transmission.

I had a lesion in exactly the same way on my 2003 Haist;
No problem, butt it was right after the only fruit and that one EXplodED after yesterday's on/off heavy/light rain. Such a coincidence, I guess. 'Nuther feem a foot or so further along, so, will wash, rinse, repeat! GL to us all---eg
