               I would cut it off just to play it safe.  Then apply a fan 24/7 for a few days.  FYI...Usually if there is a rot problem with the nub it starts to show the rot in mid to late August.

               I agree with Steve. Cut it, treat it and put a fan on it.

               I cut those off right back to the ring, paint on a little daconil and put a fan on it. Don't take any chances, had to do it to a few of them this year. The humidity has just been too high for them.

               Yep, cut it... dont break it off, you can't assume it will break where you want it to break.  Learned that lesson already.
