Day one of the New England coast trip started at Topsfield Fair. Shawna and I had a great time! Many people we haven't seen in five years and even the GPC president, Cindy Tobeck was there. Woody won the $10k giveaway, took first place, and broke the fair record! Congrats Woody on an epic night. Shawna was ecstatic to take second place with Toad at Topsfield which is not an easy feat, however I was not impressed with the performance of Toad. To weigh a 482" pumpkin and look at the scale and see 2220lbs. Was very disappointing. Thats 5% light, and a 8lb. Better personal best??? Like I said, not very impressive! In fact, at the moment it was an epic failure. I will always appreciate getting a pumpkin over 2200lbs to the scale but Toad had expectations and goals that were not met in my eyes. I was honestly shocked but have to realize Shawna did great, Toad did great, and I only have myself to be disappointed with. Thank you to all the staff and growers for hosting an awesome weigh off! Many beautiful pumpkins.
