We had severe thunderstorms come through yesterday afternoon, they dumped 2 inches of rain in a very short time and had some powerful winds. The 2618 Mendi did not fare well, it has really tall petioles and I had quite a few rolled vines, shredded leaves and snapped petioles. This plant is a bit of a mess, I made mistakes allowing too many tertiaries to grow then when I cut them off I accidentally cut a big secondary off. The pumpkin is still growing but I'm sure my mismanagement has cost pounds. I just have to remind myself that things are not going to be perfect, this is the first time I've had a plant at this stage so I'm effectively a rookie. I'm making notes and already planning for improving next year.
I have not hardly been able to fertilize for the last 2 weeks, we are sitting at 6 inches of rain for the month which is kinda crazy for July here.
