When we retired and moved back to Vancouver Island we have done many things including starting an accidental business. 3 years ago our daughters Australian Cattle Dog gave us our pup Tova. In an effort to allow this herding dog to follow her instincts I trained her to herd properly and clear away pesky Canadian Geese off the golf club where I am a member. Starting at 6 months she was trained at first on what not to herd (other birds, deer, squirrels etc) and focus only on geese. The practice is called hazing and the goose populations learn quickly that is safer to go elsewhere. Long story short I have co-trained 3 other cattle dogs that are all now working in the golf course geese herding business.
