							| I took a fall soil sample, all considered it's not in too bad of shape. Since I started on my pumpkin patch last spring I have raised the Ca from 1400 to 2300 and the soil organic matter from 2.1 to 3.1. I really want to work on raising the OM further as that will help with soil texture and internal drainage. I keep tossing around ideas on how to raise it further. The easiest for me would be to add more composted beef manure, I have a pretty good pile of really old manure that I could use. The only thing that makes me hesitate is the fact that will raise soil phosphorous levels. I am already over 200ppm and don't know if I will create problems if I elevate P further, I know that high P will tie up Zinc but beyond that I am not sure of the effects, it is something I need to research.
I did apply more gypsum, I applied an additional 800lb on 6000 sq ft, this should get my Ca close to 3000ppm and 80% base saturation. I will sample again in Feb or Mar and will likely add some zinc and potash.
