Today my 840 and I are on the front-page of the Life section of the Hartford Courant! The picture in the paper is almost half a page. Here is the link: http://www.ctnow.com/features/lifestyle/hc-pumpkin.artoct18.story
Also, I am supposed to be on WTIC-AM 1080 radio this morning for a short interview. This must be my fifteen minutes of fame.

I must say that was a very well-done article!! The writer did a good job capturing the essence of what we do. And a nice plug for bigpumpkins.com to boot!

Great Story!!! will autograph my copy?...I also got started with a seed from the Big E. One of my first grew at the top of my picket fence so I created a sling out of rope to support it...I'm sure you can guess what happened. It burst the rope...and my wife saw it bust out of the rope and roll in to my neighbors yard. She even rolled it back into our yard. What a great wife!..Chris

Nice story. I'm glad they have these things on the web, along with all the folks here. Without the help I get, my pumpkins wouldn't be over 10 pounds.
Thanks

Ken, that´s great. I´ve posted some strange events with media and garden stores on the general disc. board (too big..), but this week things went crazy. My 417 was on TV via satellite from that garden store and I didn´t even know, my office phone was ringing 2 times a day from local newspapers asking for an interview... Tomorrow I´ll have to grab the videos, the articles, my 150 $ first prize over there. That will sure be much more exciting than the german weigh-off. I´ll post everything about it as soon as the situation calms down...

Sorry, I found one flaw. "Seeds are planted in April but Germination doesn't occur untill July". I believe this should have read Pollination not Germination. Other than that, the article is AWESOME!!!! Congratulations Ken you deserve it! Mike

true the media usually fouls something up! a couple of years ago while watching the news clip from the Topsfield fair i noticed that they used a film clip from the previous year! i guess the news crew had something better to do that afternoon, the thing that really tipped us off that it was a last years clip was one of the carriers who usually comes with me to the fair could not make that year, but there he was on the news carrying a pumpkin.
