            | OkieGal | Boise City, Oklahoma, USA | Okay, they are tucked in at 90f in perfectly prepared blotter box (sproutenator, or de-lux baggie sprouting) and how long should I expect it to take? I nipped the ears and filed a side on each one (see my diary entries...) [I so don't want this to be another zero yield session!] | 5/4/2010 3:57:49 PM |

            | Andy H | Brooklyn Corner, Nova Scotia | For me 5-7 days is normal. On a rare ocassion one came up after 3 days and this season some took 10 days, could easily take longer. Be patient, keep the heat constant and keep them moist, not wet. | 5/4/2010 5:05:02 PM |

            | OkieGal | Boise City, Oklahoma, USA | Came up... are you pot sprouting? I am blotter sprouting... | 5/4/2010 10:57:17 PM |

            | Andy H | Brooklyn Corner, Nova Scotia | How many did you try Deb. I have LG's all over the place and I'm only going with 3-4 large plants. Definitely giving some away to friends. | 5/7/2010 9:38:05 PM |

            | Alan E. | eastern Ontario | Andy--may I suggest--if you are giving LG plants to new growers that you ask them to keep track of their ancestory (mother seed) and any crosses. Also make them aware of www.longgourd-growers.com

I am starting extra plants here too,for 3 other growers.

            | Andy H | Brooklyn Corner, Nova Scotia | No worries here Al, anyone who receives a plant will be a member of our club and will have a vested interest in keeping track of their ancestry. I also keep track of who gets what as it will probably be me passing the info to Bob. | 5/8/2010 8:03:44 AM |

            | Bry | Glosta | all 4 were up here deb by 5th day, filed not soaked and put in moist dirt. | 5/8/2010 11:31:54 AM |

            | OkieGal | Boise City, Oklahoma, USA | I have six in that batch, one sprouted so far, need to uncrate the sproutenator today and check. It's just the principle... last year I built a LG trellis and had to take it down (neighbor's kids thought it was kid play equipment and wanted to come play on it). This year I haven't built one yet, so I now have something needing one. Heh. | 5/8/2010 12:54:32 PM |

            | Donkin | nOVA sCOTIA | Depending on how the weather treats me this year(wind).I may end up joining the long gourd club after this year Andy.I have been trying to compete with pumpkins for 4 years now and the patch gets hammered every year with hurricane winds.Pretty hard to grow a pumpkin over 1000 in this location. | 5/8/2010 9:51:53 PM |

            | OkieGal | Boise City, Oklahoma, USA | Update, I had put out 8 seeds, and last night I went through and found two more cracking the end and about to stick a root out, so I potted them up. One 88.5 Leland was an airseed, it felt weird and I split it wide open, no sign it had ever mushed even, was just empty. So I have one breaking pot surface, two more trying to (97 Lovelace and I think a 90...um...brainfart) and the others in pot too trying. So I need to build that trellis today! | 5/9/2010 11:30:51 AM |
