            | Palm Chicken | McMinnville, Oregon | Has anyone noticed that LG send out roots like a AG, at every node? Ive always thought that someone living in a highrise apartment. etc could take advantage of this w/a long planter box allowing 6 or 7 nodes to be buried then sending the vine over the edge? It would give the neighbors something to talk about? | 1/16/2010 1:03:40 AM |

            | Iowegian | Anamosa, IA [email protected] | I have seen this. I plan to try to let my gourds grow along the ground for about 3' or so before climbing the trellis, just to see if a better root system will help them grow bigger. And I plan to use a little mycorrhizae at the root nodes too. | 1/24/2010 5:38:35 PM |

You've probably thought about this, but I still feel compelled to point out that a gourd-sized object falling from a height will seriously injure anyone it falls on. A surprizing number of people are killed every year by coconuts falling on their heads.
