            | Grant(Iowa) | DeWitt, Iowa | How can you make your lg seeds have a better rate of germination? I hear they are hard to germinate. | 11/6/2009 8:10:55 PM |

            | Andy H | Brooklyn Corner, Nova Scotia | They can be, depends on the seed and the method you use. Last year 6 out of 6 122 Eaton seeds popped in 3-5 days. 0-4 on the 124 Eaton. Personally, I think a constant temperature in the upper eighties in moist soil is your best bet. | 11/6/2009 9:22:53 PM |

            | Iowegian | Anamosa, IA [email protected] | You can file the edges of the seeds just like you do the pumpkin seeds. I agree with the upper 80's. I try for 88. I use a 15 watt lightbulb in a large beverage cooler, with the lid propped part way open. I use a thermometer and get it going with filled pots a few days before planting seeds. That way I know how much to prop the lid open for the proper temperature. Plus that gets the seed starting mix warmed up as well. | 11/6/2009 9:45:40 PM |
