            | sambo | Sparta, NC | I have a plant that I have 1 pollinated and its 7 days old but I'm not getting anymore females on the plant. I have never had problems getting females on lg plants. Any ideas? | 8/6/2008 6:47:21 AM |

            | Marty S. | Mt.Pleasant,Iowa | Sam mine did the same thing. I have one over 86 inches and now the plant is producing females again. It may be a blessing and the one may get very long. | 8/6/2008 7:36:22 AM |

            | Iowegian | Anamosa, IA [email protected] | I have noticed that the females come in groups, with some time in between. Since they do most of thier growth in about 3 weeks, don't worry. You have plenty of time to grow a big one. | 8/6/2008 8:36:30 AM |

            | Dutch Brad | Netherlands | Mine had two females that aborted and now they are all rotting before they reach an inch long. Not one single female on two plants. | 8/7/2008 2:26:11 PM |

            | Alan E. | eastern Ontario | I started growing LGs in 2003 and this is the first year that I have had pollination problems. In the past I learned to expect about 95% success rate.
This year is much different and I am doing everything exactly the same.Even have a few plants with 10 attempts and 10 failures and no chances left, will pull the plants down.

Any suggestions why would be welcomed.(I do have a few plants with 4-5 LGs set though, but the growth rate is well below other years.

The degree days are about the same as past years but a lot more rainfall this year.

            | Alan E. | eastern Ontario | A second thought. It was brought to my attention by a neighbour that our hours of sunshine are way down this year.I am starting to believe that is the reason for the slow growth of my LGs. | 8/9/2008 9:10:18 PM |

            | Dutch Brad | Netherlands | Same here Al. Less rain but very little sunshine. Yesterday I noticed a few new females on my second plant, so maybe there's a bit of hope. | 8/10/2008 2:27:19 PM |

            | Alan E. | eastern Ontario | Brad-I will try my last pollination tonight.Don't know about Europe but here my pollination window has been about July 20-Aug 10.
Most of my best last year were pollinated around July 27.
