I think I'm going to use the money I was saving for a drip tape system, to have a French drain installed around my patch. On a positive note, waded out into patch with muck boots yesterday, it's amazing how easy the weeds pull right now.

I used to hold more water in my patch. So I rented a trencher and ran two trenchs accross the middle of patch about 18 inches deep.We put that plastic drain tile down & back filled with sand. It drains off into the wetlands. Whats a French drain?

Same principle, used to divert water away from house, or structure.
