For those that might be interested there were two 326's that were grown. Aaron Isabelle also grew one but unfortunately it went down to a stem end split first week of Sept. Unofficial weight of 2090. Unlike mine his was a beautiful orange.

Wow That is crazy just goes to show you that in no way does the size of the parent matter as long as the genes are there. What was the cross? This is the first I have heard of it. When I saw the title as 326 Ritter seed I was thinking it was going to be a post about a watermelon or bushel gourd seed. LOL

Blue moon I mean hypothetically if you are about to grow a world record then you cut the stem 9/10 of the way through and grow a 200lb pumpkin the genetics are still exactly the same. Size is just a great brute force method of selecting the best genetics .

Looks like a good sleeper

I remember in the chat room back in the off season Kerry told me that Steve geddes was going to grow the 326. I thought to myself I should get some before it grows something big but I forgot and regret it now.

Yup think I remember a very long time ago a 355 lb. seed was churning out some big ones that went on to be WR. And Mr.Geddes proved it. Well done.

The 32 Ritter is no slouch seed. It is 2200 Geddes UOW X 1501 VanderWielen. I don't know why it was so small, late pollination? You'd have to ask Lief.

Steve was so kind to grow my seed. I know there were so many options. Amazing that it was able to grow with 10 leaves to 326. Hope it grows other large pumpkins.

I grew a 70 with 10 as well and a 97 with 12 leaves. All of these had issues with late May snow storms. The other 2 also had the same issue with no secondaries. The issue with the main was me snapping off the main vine on both because I was inexperienced. The main vine on the 326 froze at the tip. I was lucky that the pumpkin near the tip survived.

Steve's pumpkin was taping , VERY BIG. Taping 2451# , but it went a little light to chart. If it went only 11% heavy, it would have been a new world record !
That is definitely a good seed, and Steve is one of the best growers out there !

I just realized that I think I sent out seeds from my 326 in the seed exchange pack. I am again really appreciative of the 2 growers that grew my seed. I hope more have success with it.
