Such a fantastic pumpkin, but if I may rain on the parade and ask if we can see her little, uh, growth issue? Such a lovely and unbelievable pumpkin.

And... with that incredible OTT did it go 100 lbs light to chart? But its off the chart, so no one knows if it went light to chart! What I really want... is a picture of Matt Debacco inside the pumpkin :)

The chart is based on an equation. You can extrapolate the data. Simply enter the Data into the GPC weight calculator. There isn't any actual data on any pumpkin that is, say, 524 OTT, but there's a chart entry for it.

542 inches is 2845 pounds. The pumpkin is a little over 2 percent heavy to chart, which of course assumes that the extrapolation of data is accurate. I'm pretty sure it's not on the tail end, as most larger pumpkins tend to go heavy.

It probably would have gone 5-6% heavy like its sister pumpkin if it had another couple weeks on the vine.

I saw a 1/4 inch hole on a big pumpkin at a weigh off. It was strange because it wasnt a crack in the normal sense, it was just a tiny hole. It was inexplicable, and it was maybe even more frustrating to the grower than a big honker would have been. Well, it wouldnt stop me from growing their seed (but of course at my low level of growing... my seed choice only affects whether I get a 400 or 600 lb. pumpkin). You all are such good pumpkin growers...

The way that belly was rolling over the top there was sure to be a lot of strain underneath. To me, preventing cracks is not a question of genetics its more just a question of how to position the pumpkin and buttress it to allow it to grow but avoid the wrong types of pressure.

Has a world record ever been disqualified before? ...Didnt Beni grow a big DMG one? But, I forget if it was a hair under or over the previous one he grew. Preventing sags and cracks could make all the difference.

Seems like it would be hard to determine if such a small hole went through to to the cavity without accidently pushing it through with the instrument you'd use to check.

Yes they are unbelievably soft. The way my fingernails go into them with no resistance even if my hands are relaxed... am I edward scissorhands or what??
