Obviously white and aluminet are better for reflecting light and thus removing heat, but black works fine if you have it 8+ feet above the plant. Just a bit less expensive. I live in Lodi Russ, it gets really hot here, but I haven't had wilting under my 30%. It's 10 degrees cooler where you live. Do yourself a favor and soak up as much light as you can, don't get over 30% for your climate. I'm actually going to roll my fabric back on cooler days so I can soak up that sun

I liked the 20% from greenhouse megastore but the new stuff isn't woven (Its a pattern of squares). Color shouldnt matter much if its Well above the plant. However,I think aphids would hate the 30% aluminet.

I use the black 30% woven shade cloth. Shade the entire patch 11' tall in the center. The first one I got at Greenhouse Megastore and it lasted 7 seasons. I have found the same cloth elsewhere a little cheaper but can't remember where. Being able to remove it easily would be a big plus. Being shaded what happens is the soil doesn't dry out,esp once you have canopy cover. You will be surprised. Keep this in mind as it has been a problem for me in the past.
I love the aluminet cloth. It lasts forever and the bugs hate it. Too bright for them. I use 70% aluminet for my wind fencing and have tables made with 40% for new growth and pollinating.

Some studies show that plants do best under white shade cloth.

40% works best in my hot climate, I use white as I think it is better than black from experience with friends who have used black. My temps are 90 to 110 during the summer and I think I would get more leaf burn with 30%. The extra 10% doesn't hurt growth with my patch experience.
