Lots of credit going to mobeymike here... (congrats, mike)
He first showed us a 2k pumpkin on a secondary with his 2106. (First/only 2k on a secondary?)
Second, he has now shown that 2500 can be reached with the main dead-end early on, at the pumpkin?
Finally, he is an outdoor grower.
A truly remarkable grower!
I seem to be one to play fast and loose with facts, so you all feel free to correct me.
But if I got any of the facts here right, this all seems noteworthy.

Ron Wallace grew a 2k on a secondary this year. You are correct on everything else though,

I think that his vine pattern allows him to dead-end the main early which probably contributes to his good fruit growth early season. I'll definitely try a waterfall vine pattern for next year!

I have dead headed my main at the fruit the last few years with really good results. I did not see a difference compared to letting main go, well, maybe better results with dead heading. Makes it easier for vine stress too.

@Northern Pumpkins: What is the "waterfall vine pattern"? I must admit, in the course of reading various posts on the MB and in the diaroies during the past couple of years, I haven´t come across a waterfall pattern. It sounds interesting, so what does it mean in terms of vine layout? (I guess it isn´t like growing the plant on a raised bed and having the secondaries fall over the "cliffs".) Helpful hints are highly appreciated. Thanks alot.

Sorry, it must read "diaries", of course (my typo probably makes it sound like...I better don´t say it.)

First he showed us how a Biotin feeding regimen can grow a 10 foot beard, now he grows 2.5K outdoors - enough said! Nobody else does that.

@pumpking, the waterfall vine pattern is something I have heard Mike Schmidt reference in some of his YouTube videos. He essentially plants his stump 10-15 feet in and sweeps all his secondaries back almost like half of a spider pattern.

Menorah pattern maybe? Christmas trees...
It just works.

If you do not know what I mean then do an image search for menorah...
