We have had excessive rain fall from Henri and now the stem end is showing a white jelly like substance dripping on the pumpkin. No visible cracks or anything. I would say it's more like what you see when cantaloping on pumpkin skin. Is this pumpkin done for? can I do something more to help it out? Hate to lose it now. thanks for any ideas.

I get that almost every year especially up towards the front. Has it been hot, humid along with the rain? We're in a +95-105 stretch right now with heavy humidity and plenty of pop up storms, typical August. Many time it will cantaloupe in that spot.
And no, it is not done for. It does take away from the looks since the skin will not be flawless anymore in that area.
Use lots of fans too!

I have the same problem on one of my pumpkins. There's literally a pound of the jelly substance on its stem side. It's cantalouping and leaking like crazy. It's growing fine though otherwise, figured maybe I was just giving it too much of something so I've cut back on ferts and watering.
Definitely put a fan on it, the cracks are easy prey for rot.

*Meant to say the cantalouped skin, not cracks.

I noticed radial (encircling the stem at a distance) cracking on my 940.6 basketball last night - i just 'schmooged' it into the crack from whence it came, like you would do to a cut until you got a Band Aid onto it; I hope it holds together - I literally could not pick it up with both hands 2.5 times. The first time, lol, I thought it was suction-cupped to the dirt. Yeah, I know, small AGs are solid meat inside, but a 70-pound basketball? Maybe I'm getting weaker, lol---eg

Thanks for the advice. I started with a bleach and captan bath then used a captan paste around the affected area. Will look for a fan today not sure I can get power out there. will look for the alcohol and sulphur powder treatment also. Never seen anything like this. definitely Hot and Humid and saturated ground.
