Hi, I'm a beginner and I missed the pumpkin's bloom for my target bud. I'm worried it may have been pollinated via a nearby zucchini plant. What would happen if this were the case? Would it ruin this year's pumpkins, or only the seeds?

Not to worry - a cross pollination with a Zuke (that's so I can always get the spelling write, lol) will NOTTTTTTTT affect this year's fruit but WILLL make the seeds a mystery as to what they would grow next time they are grown themselves. I don't know what a Zumpkin even looks like (again - spelling) but I only recently found that there are limited types of fruits that are valid for any prizes or competition other than for novelty purposes, which is sensible. So, IMHO (In My Honest Opinion) you're good to go as long as the fruit swells to softball size and beyond, IMHO. If it was today(?) you could still be certain of an Atlantic Giant pollination by DABBING a desired male flower(s) into and around the stigma (female parts) of the intended pumpkin's flower, but the seeds would still be considered an 'open' pollination and anybody's guess as the outcome, but you'd be more certain of fuller coverage nonetheless. Good Luck! eric g/pumpkinpal2 Be sure to look me up this winter on here for some seeds to try. Also, there is a Search Window on the front page top left that while you wait for any sparse answers this time of year you can try a few times per keyword like pollinated by zucchini or open pollination to speed your knowledge uptake---yay! eg
