The first three secondaries on my right side slowed down dramatically. They went from doing 6 inches a day to only about an inch while the rest of the plant is growing normal. What could the cause of this be and how do I fix this? Also should I grow tertiaries into this space if they don’t start moving again

Did you get any chemical spray on the tips { fertilizer etc.}? Buried ? Does not take much to ruin those tender tips.

I don’t think so they look perfectly fine the vines were about 5 feet long and growing 6 inches a day and than just stopped but the rest of the vines are still going

Put a bamboo stake at the VERY tip of a couple of those vines to see if they've STOPped and/or have just really slowed down a lot for some reason, as well as begin increasing the watering frequency/fertilizing of the plant(s); If a plant doesn't have the resources to keep up with previous progress, it has to limit itself somewhere/somehow - See Gerald's diary/discussions also---eg

I gave it 1.5 tsp of urea per gallon and 1.5 tsp of Epsom per gallon the tips are moving about an inch a day but the ones towards the top are really exploding. I think your right

Yay! I've also theorized that if a plant senses COMPETITION from any weeds in the way of any secondaries, those secondaries DO seem to become slowed on my own plants... 'Course, usually by now, (not THIS year, ha ha!) my weeds are as abundant as my plants are trying to be. I have a 1985 Miller growing initially on top of WeedBlock until its 8' X 8' greenhouse comes off. It'll be neat to maybe see an initially-uniform secondary growth rate this time around---eg

In my opinion most plants even the fastest growing gems will have a few secondaries that I call shorties that may only grow 4-5 feet and then broom out with a lot of flowers. But the remaining secondaries continue to grow fine. Fill the void space with third stage growth from the nearest secondaries and get used to this happening quite often but not to all plants. I believe it is a common plant thing and not grower induced!
