With deep regret I wish to let all of you know that Marvin
Meisner passed away suddenly last night. To say he will be missed is an understatement. He was a long time friend and one of the founders of the PGPGA. His wife asked if I would come down and get some of tomato plants and keep them growing. If anyone near here would like a few, please contact me. Rest in peace my friend.

RIP Marv. He will be sorely missed. We had had a long running email discussion over soil fertility & targets for different elements in the soil over the last couple of years. The gist of it he posted here. It just goes to show, you never know, it gives me a different outlook on life.

So sorry to hear this. I really always enjoyed his winter chats over email, plans for the coming season and his continued passion to find out more about how to grow bigger and better. He had a great infectious enthusiasm to share that knowledge with others via his books or posts. Condolences to his family & friends. He’ll be sorely missed. RIP.

Marv was a true friend to me. Over the last few years, he was willing to listen to my concerns, whether it was about growing tomatoes or about personal life. He never failed to answer any email sent and tried to offer the best advice he could. I will truly miss his perspective.

The website for access to his updated book of tomatoes still appears to be active... GiantTomatoes.com

I am hoping that the writing efforts that Marv gave to the growing community for the past few years will not be lost.

A tremendous loss indeed. :-( Marv was the #1 inspiration for what I started nearly 12 years ago: abandoned my faltering career and plunged head-long into the world of growing giant tomatoes (etc.) He gave so much encouragement, insights, inspiration, motivation and even seeds. My occasional "thank-you" barely began to express the appreciation I should have articulated over the years. My condolences to his family and friends. His legacy will live on in the years and generations to come in the world of giant tomato growing and doubtless well beyond to all those he touched.
