Curious as to what make / models people use. I've been running old Orbit models for years now, and they've been slowly failing, so I'm scrapping them and starting with new ones this year. I want something programmable - 3 cycles per day I can set, and not have to worry about it shutting on and off when it's supposed to.

Nelson timer was good for me no problems with it at all and the AA batteries in it lasted all year. In fact, it was in a damp/ humid spot all year and got water on it occasionally and it survived a few light freezes too. Doubt it will last forever. But it got put to the test and it passed... Easy to program and use. The unit I have does just a maximum of only two timed cycles per day though. I think they're available for around $30-35.

Orbit B-Hyve. Best $100 I've ever spent for the patch. Wifi controller, I can run water from anywhere.

I use hydrawise, its wifi controlled and can run it from my phone. Pretty nice as long as I have phone service. https://www.hydrawise.com/

I used the Orbit B-Hyve. It works as advertised, but be careful of the distance between the transponders. If you your water control valve is actually in the patch, it might to far away from your house. But is is so cool to turn your water on and off from your cell phone.

@ 97pounder misting would be best set by a thermostat rather than a timer

Orbit b hyve! Make sure you cancel the rain delays and frost delays right away. Can honestly say I'd be nowhere without them.

I use the Melnor 4 output. It does 4 different zones and can be programmed to run 4 different times on each zone. Best $50 I spent to water the patch.

Can't believe I have never used one.
So if I am away 7 days, due I just leave my spigot\hose on, and use timers as I want programmed?
Anyone ever have a valve or gasket break on vacation and come back to a lake?
That's my biggest fear.

Galcon 6 station timer with infinite loops has worked well for me. $99 on dripworks.com. I’ve had the same one for 18 years.

Only use rainbird for the valves themselves. They hold up way better than orbit. You can use an orbit controller if you like.

For sure agree with Orangeneck there. Stay away from orbit valves.

Daletas has this box that works really good Andy.:) I'm pretty sure he can turn the water off and on and even change stations from 30,000 feet up! lol

IF you hoses are breaking/Leaking use Washing machine hoses, They can handle 200PSI and a few hundred degrees so the sun does nothing. Been using them for years connected to valves. No issues........Yet

Yes leave hose spigot on. Left mine on 2 years without a problem.

Evandy, that was a super suggestion about washing machine hoses. I would guess any braided water line would work, but that is a bullet proof idea.
