Well, probably seeds for me. I just used some seeds from my biggest, only 216 pounds, an that only grew a 250, so definitely need better seeds. What I did right, was probably space. I had a bigger plant, and it preformed better than previous years. I had one on track to pass 300, but then I got a foaming stump, so could definitely do that better, but dunno how, so better seeds, and bigger plants, are definitely on the list for next year!

i always 'let' the weeds get out of control and they become taller than i am at 6 feet; i should grow CORN, eh? i DID try to grow a cover crop this year but it froze the day after planting it and then we had a 2-week drought in NY and what rain DID fall was not extended long enough to get my Dutch White Clover to sprout - it's too tall anyway, but i'd love the patch to be full of it! this 'pig weed' i may have is just like an AG - so 'innocent' to start with - imagine trying to grow a cover crop and the 'weed' is instead AGs! hmmm... lol---eg

I tried plants in a raised garden beds. That did not work as well as I would have thought mostly because it was hard to water them enough. Those were my biggest failures. Biggest success was probably just taking the time t
o hand water 50 gallons or so under the leaves to keep the plant stress low and keep the nutrients available. Minimal water just on the surface... should keep root disease to a minimum & soil biology at a maximum... Especially if the water is warmer than well water and has some added nutrients.
