I live in Minnesota, so we can expect overnight lows in the 30's in September and October. I have a 400+ lb pumpkin that my city is going to display outdoors at our recreation center and have a guess the weight contest. We plan to pick the pumpkin and move it on 9/28. Will it be ok sitting outside for 30 days? What would the impact be of 20 degree weather be, would this immediately impact it and start rotting? The city is going to come pick it up and move for me, just don't want to go through that work to have it collapse/start rotting. I plan to wash with a 10% bleach/water solution after picking. Any advice/insight would be appreciated. Thank you!

Should be fine if above freezing...a thick blanket covering it over night Will get you through a lot of frosty mornings. Big thing is to check it over well for soft spots before it ships...... if healthy ive seen them hold right into December...super cool!!

AS Pork stated it cannot freeze and any night it could it should be protected. I would go cover them. I have displayed pumpkins many times and have several damaged by the youth.
