I decided back in March not to grow this year because of the whole covid thing. I was afraid of putting in all the work and then having the weigh offs be canceled. Reading the diaries I was surprised to see that quite a few people are growing though, did anyone else take a break or did I waste a season?

I took a break this season as well. I ended up at the hardware store almost every day last season and regular trips to the post office to mail soil samples, it all sounds so germy!

I am growing Cole the Kohlrabie, special guest from England, so I've still got something interesting growing this season.

Life goes on. You only have so many seasons to grow. Enjoy them while you can.

I don't grow for going to weighoffs ! I grow because all gardening giants or regular gardening is fun enjoyable and rewarding hobby.

I agree with Wixom! I grow every year no matter what and all for myself and family to enjoy. It’s fun and hard work but it’s a hobby I have been in since 1991 and really enjoy being outside working in the garden.

It would be a good year to take off but I am learning (and forgetting) stuff continually. Even though the horse is going all the wrong directions this year it feels good to be in the saddle.

Yeah, gotta agree with PChop again here!! We don’t grow for the weighoffs, they just happen to be a happy coincidence.

My first few seasons I didn't go to a weigh off and grew just for the heck of it. I got kinda bored of it to be honest, it's just not the same without a weigh off to look forward to at the end. But maybe that's just me.

No, it definitely isn’t the same...and you know me, I didn’t mean that as a shot...as long as something that has your interest and are moving toward a goal with a smile on your face , you haven’t wasted a thing.

Jordan, I seriously thought about taking the year off too. Instead I cut back on the number of plants that I do. Growing giants.... Is it practical? no. Is it fun? yes. Is it worth doing without a weigh off at the end? Hopefully that isn't the case. But I feel that the question is valid and every thinking individual has asked themselves this question before, especially this year.

Now that Cole is on the grow, I'm still debating whether to risk the germs to take him to a fun weigh-off or a local grocer to get an official weight on him, or if I should try to be satisfied with an unofficial weight.

It just doesn't seem quite the same to me without getting an official weight, no matter how small or large Cole turns out.

Best of luck to everyone in these weird times!

This Corona media stuff is hyped by the freemason kabale behind the media.

Dear Kurbisfreak, I have not heard of the 'freemason kabale' until now. I am well aware of the Free Masons in a general way but I thought that was all a middle-age method of banking, conquering, pillaging, spreading religion, and such. I'm quite interested in hearing more about it in the modern sense.

Danke!

It's all good porkchop, I know you didn't mean it as a shot. And yeah I've been able to focus on some other things during this time, they're not quite as fun as pumpkin growing but oh well. Hopefully next year things will be more normal.
