The GPC is working on a statement process for a change of venue for the weigh offs. We are meeting to discuss options for a change a venue for cancelled weigh offs this Sunday and will release it when complete.

Wiz, I'd like to see the GPC consider waving the one pumpkin per contest rule as it pertains to three official entries for the growers top three fruit having to be weighed at three separate contests.The grower still would only place with their heaviest but the others would count for jacket and patch statistics. Call it the covid rule.

Sounds like a great Idea Cojoe as some growers would have to travel hundreds of mile to get to more than one weigh off as many are being cancelled

Great idea Joe. For many it is hard to find a single weigh-off this year as many state fair's have been cancelled. I still think $100 is crazy for just getting data entered. It might take 10 minutes to enter the data which means the GPC is charging $600 an hour for their time essentially. Where is this money going? If there are over 100 sites and even a low average of $100 in profit per weigh-off adds up to be over $10,000.

Just something to think about. If there are reduced numbers of weighoff sites, each site will draw more growers than usual. If all the growers are allowed to weigh multiple pumpkins, it will take a whole weekend to weigh them all. There could be 250 pumpkins to weigh.
