My submersible is dieing, so I'm looking into something else. I am pumping from totes and want something I can put on a switch. I'm not against turning a valve, but if I forget, that's a lot of water going in the patch. Does anyone use a shallow well pump? How do they work? I use mostly drip tape, but have 5 mini wobblers too.

yeah, i use a shallow well pump, with the auto shutoff pressure switch set to probably 60-70 pounds through whizzer-type sprinklers; have been wanting to feed from a 55-gallon barrel and have it shut OFF when it gets near the bottom via a sump pump switch and a float, just like a toilet arrangement and back ON again when my barrel gets full from a spring, continuously filling the barrel slowly over the day. it should work great, in eg theory, lol---eg

you could get an outdoor timer, with a few tries you can figure out how many minutes it needs to run for the amount of water needed.

You could get a sump pump float with pump plugin so the pump turns on at a high level and off at a low level in the tank.

Been using a shallow well jet pump with pressure switch for years. Works Well.
