It is with heavy hearts that the Board of Directors of the Woodstock Agricultural Society announces the cancellation of the 2020 Woodstock Fair due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Our first priority is the health and safety of the growing community. This is a very difficult decision that is based upon the information that is available to us at the present time. However if restrictions and things change for the better I will be looking into what ever it would take to hold a safe certified GPS Weigh Off . But as of today the traditional Woodstock Fair weigh off is cancelled .
I hope this isn't a sign of most or all weigh offs being cancelled? As a community we may all need to find a safe responsible way to achieve our weigh offs. Either way we should all be doing what we love to do and that is growing Giant Vegetables, Weigh offs or not? Any thoughts?
Thanks Gene

If I have good ones but no weigh offs they will go on display at the grocery store or a childrens hospital... Not going to waste. But last I heard we do have one weigh off that will take place.

At the moment I think that is a wise decision. An official weight is not worth risking your life over or long term lung problems if you survive. Being outdoors in your garden is very rewarding and healthy for you. My main goal always is for my front yard and a weigh off is secondary.

Tough decision but not surprising. You must be disappointed. We all know how much effort you put in to make that a special weighoff.

Don't understand these decisions,so soon still 5 months to weigh offs, things can change and this virus can be history.

I would think the the pumpkin clubs could hold a covid responsible weigh-off since you would not have to plan for thousands of people. You guys always get together to weigh damaged pumpkins to commemorate about what could have been. Why not find local certified scales, and just set appointment times for weighing? I think club organized weigh-offs is the way forward.

There have been two venues with GPC Weigh-Offs cancel so far in the N.E. Region. These decisions sometimes need to be done at an earlier date due to contractual commitments. Damariscotta Me. is the other. Both sites have contacted me to discuss their options as they still want to have their GPC Weigh-Off if possible. It's a work in progress. Time will tell! Fingers crossed may you all have your personal best this year. There are a lot of people trying to make this happen. Be positive, do your part and grow big! May this be our best season ever in spite of the present situation.

Sorry to hear that! Woodstock sounds like an amazing weigh-off.

Thank you for letting us know!

So it isn't the weigh-off, specifically, that has been cancelled, but the entire fair of which the weighoff was a part, right?

I have hope for our local weighoff in Vermont! Even if it's modified, I truly hope to get an official weight on my froots.

Correct the event itself is cancelled. The weigh-offs themselves may still happen if.
