Bro quick are pretty good. I used to get them at more electric on line. But they don’t seem to carry anymore. They were really thick and durable.

As far as I can tell the old heavy-duty soil cables and Wrap-On 40' Roof & Gutter Cable are the same thing,I have had both types. Wrap on costs more than most. I bought these last time and they work fine. The cable on these are smaller in diameter than Wrap-On https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000PN7HCG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I had great success warming the soil with clear plastic. Soil temps were a month ahead. Not sure if it would help melt snow. Shameless plugging in my own ideas. After using approx 15 x 15 clear plastic I dont know why anyone would go to all the work and expense of cables. Doubled up sheets of plastic is best I think.

Larger area needed otherwise the collected heat dissipates. I dont think anything less than 12x12 would get near the maximum heating possible.
