I was wondering if the GPC is willing to consider extending the deadline for weighoff's to sign-up to June 1st. I was talking to Nick's garden center and they don't want to register until the stay at home order is lifted. When May 1st comes around that is about the estimated peak in coronavirus cases in Colorado. I know the GPC wants to get ribbons ordered, but I think there would be 3 times the participation if they waited until June 1st.

Sounds simple but it's not. Because of all the shutdowns manufacturers are working with smaller crews or not at all. It is going take longer to make this happen this year. We have made it so all types of registration and awards not used this year are good for next year. Sites should register and hope for the best. Be Positive!

There are posts both here and on the GPC Info page that address this issue. If your sites have not seen this please make them aware of what we have done. We are doing this, but the more growers pushing a positive agenda the better our chances of having some great weigh-offs at the close of this season. If this is over with in time. Stay Healthy

Thanks for explaining the GPC's view. It is important to get both sides. I will be reminding sites again and hopefully we have more than 1 of our 4 weighoff's sign up.

97, remind them of the $100 option which would allow all entries to be officially submitted, but would not include awards. This might be a year where pumpkin clubs might be willing to pay the $100 on behalf the site that is donating the weigh-off venue. I think $100 is very doable for a club to chip in.
