Reading the literature. It appears that mycos don't really like to grow in higher phosphorus soils. Are we wasting our time by adding both ? Dave

Good question my phosphorus levels are excessive. I'd like to know if I'm just wasting money on Mycorrhizae

AMF also have an interaction with plant defence or SAR. This helps with preventing harmful pathogen colonisation. It can't do any harm to add AMF even if its just to top up the naturally occurring AMF in your patch soil!

I agree Caper842. What I read mirrors the article you sited. The higher the phosphorus level the fewer amount of colonies of Mycorrhizea the plant will allow to colonize the root system. Question is the cost and time really worth it. I am leaning towards no. We tend to look at mycos as the golden substance its just not that simple. Mycos works better in low phosphorus soils which is surely what we don't have. It allows for more cost effective use of fertilizers in low PO4 soils.I will not be using it. I am simply going to cover the leaf node axils for rotting and then clean the vines off to prevent fungal disease. The 2019 Ohio spray program has taken mycos out of there drench program. Dave

Important notes: "... this effect only applies to available phosphates. Insoluble phosphates are unavailable, and do not affect mycorrhizal development."
And:
"The insoluble phosphate in natural soils can represent as much as 99% of the soil’s total phosphate content."
