I've seen perhaps the biggest fruit ever off the 1884 Crews. Prospects look very good for this seeds future!

1959 Hunt. Despite a cold & very wet spring, followed by a drought that seen us receive only 5/8" of rain from early July to mid Sept, it still grew the largest in Canada at 1814#. It was also a very strong plant that didn't burn or flag on the days of extreme high temps & high UV readings. Unfortunately I only have @ 10 seeds left. Most were given out in GVGO membership seed pack & the OAF seed pack. Our 1814 Hunt is a 1959 x self, so should provide the same traits as it's momma.

The Haist lineage has some real vigor. I tried his genetics his 1415 and 1505.5. I believe the plant that grew the 1415 was the pollinator awhile back to the more recent ones. Even before he grew his big ones I noticed the 1415 had some extra vigor. My results are unimpressive but I have grown enough plants that I think I can see (relative to the others) which ones are special. But there are others that have this extra vigor... not every plant has it though. My very laymans assessment.

Like Phil and Jane, I gave almost all of the 1884 seeds out in the GVGO seed distribution so finding a friendly member is a good way to get one. There may be a few available in an Auction.
