I was doing some research and stumbled across this old thread. I am surprised at how many growers called it way back in 2,008. Will we ever see see 3,000?

hi big moon
everything has it limitations.i dont think all the circumstances/conditions/life cycle are there to grow long enough or fast enough to reach 3k in a 90-100 day season.

possibly though if you get a mega good one and it goes monster over chart?
would love to see it though.

many of our hobbies top growers will continue toward that goal.

Paps usually dead on but I have a feeling with the greenhouse guys fully loaded with all the bells and whistles that 3000 will happen in the next few years,,, I really do!
One of these mega monsters pap talks about grown in these conditions that tapes 2500 then goes 20% over chart from all that extra co2 gas its going to happen!

I can't wait to see it!!!!

pap, you said that about 1,500 lbs. and your son proved you wrong, you said that about 2,000 lbs,, and again your son proved you wrong, so your keeping with the tradition, I guess your son will prove you wrong yet again with 3,000 lbs??????

Totally possible, a competetion plant has easily enough source to support 3k, the problem is 1 single pumpkin is not a strong enough sink.....yet, we need to figure out how to increase the pumpkins sink.....

Then it we will need the pumpkin to be able to handle that faster growth. Another method is finding pumpkins that grow longer than others we need thise extra days also.

30 lbs a day for 100 days is crazy growth but will be interesting to see if it happens.
