just wondering if your adding microbes to your patch if you continue to use merit and other insecticides or funicides will you be killing the microbes you add just wondering as merit (imidacloprid) can be very residual depending on the dosage rate

Well you don't need a semi snarky comment from me but... Yeah there are probably lots of conflicts. There are conflicts in the fertilizers too. Not many people get it perfect, which is why most of us don't get the best results we possibly could... For examples: you might want to kill every last bug or spore, but more applications might damage your leaves... More fertilizer might cure a deficiency but it might reduce turgor (water uptake).
I believe you have the correct idea here. There are many trade offs. Another is where to invest your time: Weeding? Pruning? Getting the watering just right?
Anyhow, you are the best expert in your own patch. I can't even come close to answering your specific question but maybe it will help you to know that it's all a balancing act. I for one am very clumsy.
Try to find a graceful balance. Think in terms of what is optimal, not in terms of what is possible. Is it possible to kill every single bug? Maybe. Is it optimal? Maybe not.

If I were you, I would post this question on the compost tea board and hope Tad12 sees it. And or I would try to get ahold of him at his business. This is his area of expertise.
