What kind of safety equipment do other growers wear when spraying pesticides or fungicides? I've always just worn a basic respirator and some goggles and then shower + wash my clothes afterwards. For a while I thought I might've actually been under protecting myself but then I saw lots of youtube videos of people spraying stuff with no protection at all so I figured I was probably alright. lol

To an extent it depends on how your spraying. Anything that mists like a blower requires more protection as it can easily blow back on you. Using a long armed pump sprayer that doesn't mist but sort of sprays out the material in a pattern doesn't necessarily require as much protection on a calm no wind day.

You are suppose to use whatever the label requires you to use. (every pesticide label will stipulate specific personal protective equipment) That being said, There is nothing wrong with being overprotective.

Some of these personal protection things are for your health ten years from now. You dont want cancer or neurological damage ten years from now. Small doses might not damage your health much but it might add up over time. It may as much about your future health as the immediate threat.

Eagle 20 is usually the only thing I spray. And yes I use a long armed pump sprayer. I think I'm okay with what I currently use for safety but if someone has another suggestion I'm definitely open to it.

Coveralls (really hot is summer), and 1/2 face respirator.

That is what my wife would like me to wear, but I’m usually commando with little to no protection but I will only spray when it’s calm.

I’m betting that Santa will bring me a proper respirator and I have two sets of coveralls in the basement waiting for action.

I wear a paint suit with hood, rubber boots, respirator mask, goggles and chemical resistant gloves when I am using my Stihl Mister/blower.
There’s a pic in my grower’s diary on July 27.
Several years ago I got some product on my forearm and I was using topical steroids for over a week.
I don’t know how I got anything on me but I suspect it may have been when I was mixing some chemicals up.

I must say, this outfit is extremely hot & I try to spray immediately after sundown.
