A sag line appeared on my 375 lb pumpkin recently. It is near the front part of the pumpkin on the stem side. The pumpkin is doing 24 lbs a day (which is ok for my 225 sq ft patch) and pumpkin looks good otherwise. It's NOT going to a weigh-off, and on track to finish at/around 900 lbs. unless this sag line brings/slows it down. Not much I can do,right? Any thoughts? Thanks!

I have surrounded them with dry dirt kind of pushed in against the pumpkin. It could help the shape (acts as a butress) once you get past day 40 the pumpkin will stast to thicken and hold its shape better on its own.

In my opinion sag lines are simply genetic and there is nothing you can do about it other than keep feeding and watering consistent to prevent blowing it out. It is a long way from 375 to 900 pounds and you’ll have to pay attention the whole way. Good luck.

Thanks Glenoma, Jim, I/ll put more sand up against the kin, and Jim, I/ll hope for the best and keep up the water/ferts as normal. Next year will be your 811 (guessing not many around?). Thanks Guys!
