I just posted pics of the first one I have ever seen. I know it's hard to get freaks to the finish line but I will try.

How many lobes did you count? I saw it in your diary and wasn't sure. I don't think I have ever seen one quite like that before.

I have doubt it will set fruit mutants are not meant to be grown in mother nature’s world the strongest survives always ... probably has seeds in the blossom and it looks as if the pollen tube is closed off

Eight lobes. The others on the plant were mostly four lobes so its two fused together... unusually well fused... Third year growing this lineage. This line has the shortest stems of any I have ever grown inherited from its grandma (the 811.5 Schweigert) and I think this is partly why it ended up a 'pumpkin mega'.

Can't hurt to try and grow it. Don't know that you can realistically expect it to throw more fused/eight lobe flowers in the future.

I agree but cjb but there were two on this plant on different vines the other was defective. This one appears sound. I think its cool.

This is a pumpkin growing site what are we supposed to be excited about. You drive me crazy North Shore! You kill my buzz man... Well... If I drive other people crazy then its fair I guess.

Abnormal yes. Mutant maybe? If one fruit has X cells, fused fruit could be 2X cells and a strategy for historically large pumpkins.
If someone somewhere didn't nurture some freakish plants, today's produce and this hobby wouldn't exist.

OK then here Brandon is this better.
Wow, that is a revolutionary breakthrough that giant pumpkin growers have been dreaming of for years. Finally someone has created a mega-bloom in giant pumpkins, you will be revered and entered into the journals of science for this amazing breakthrough in giant pumpkins genetics, growing and breeding.
Nah, prolly just excess ammonium right Brando...

Next year, I think you should try to grow a pumpkin from the carcass of a dead cow.
That should make for some awesome compost!

Pretty funny - I saw a triple male blossom down to the right in the picture and was like 'Jeez, he's got double and triple everyth...oh wait, it a JAR with three males in it, lol!' That's the first thing I thought of, too, Brandon, 'It's smoochie time in the patch!'---if I were a BEE? It might bee a few days before I get back to the hive, ya know? In any event, IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII will bee the first to say that if this is a common thing amongst that seed stock, you know I'd like a dozen + to try in '20! eg

My friend (barry todd)had one years ago.It was fused twins which i believe glenoma has. Barrys was one stem fused down the trunk but with the blossom third seperate. His set but never grew fast nor got big. Its two fruit that would be ruled as one so sure it would halve potential to get twice as big in theory.

it'd be funny to pollinate only one of them and have it grow to like 300 lbs. and have the other one attached to it like a gigantic pumpkin wart, lol---eg
