Thought I seen a post about pumpkins putting on the most pounds during cool nights. I've always thought that the pumpkin would put on more pounds on warm nights? Anyway, very dry here having to water daily. It was very warm last week and pumpkin growth was very visible. This week has cooled down lows in the 60s and even hit high 50s at night. Hopeing my pumpkins will continue with the fluctuating temperature. What say you? Thanks for your responses

They grow best when the nights stay in the 60's.We don't(rarely) get 70's for lows so I cant speak for that range. The pumpkins gains slow down when the lows are in the 50,s and get real slow in the 40's.So cool night are slower than warm nights how fast it cools off in the evening is gonna play into this too.

Same goes for the opposite side when lows are in the upper 70’s or higher like here in Texas that is no good either :( I sure miss growing ag’s in Colorado but I would still trade it anyday for our mild winters!

Could you raise the temperature at night just around the pumpkin to prevent daily gain loss, or the whole plant area?
