Are there any benefits or disadvantages to having small blossom end or a large blossom end on kin?

Do you mean big butt vs little butt, Or big lobes vs small lobe. Concave vs a tail vs strait up and down.?

In my opinion there is no advantage big vs small. The biggest one I ever grew had a small blossom end that actually fell off before the weighoff. It is in the genetics to go big and other factors one not being the size of the blossom end, my opinion.

Thanks pooh-bear. Any added risks to blossom end split?

That’s a tuff question as I split a lot of pumpkins I think from just pushing them to hard. But my opinion on your question is that the blossom end part of the pumpkin area is usually the thinnest and when there is an overload or something goes wrong the blossom end usually suffers the damage with a split but not all the time. With that I believe a sucked in blossom end is more prone to splits then a blossom end that is not sucked in because I think the sucked in blossom ends tend to run thinner inside walls then the other not sucked in. All my opinion. I would however rather have a smaller blossom then bigger but bigger to many means a bigger pumpkin but not in my opinion.

The size of the nub doesn't matter imho-its genetic. Its the inside of the blossom that matters and you cant see whats going on there until either a split happens or your harvesting seeds.I used to be scared of concave blossoms but a lot of pumpkins with them make it .
