It'll keep growing but not normally, and it will be awful sketchy once the pumpkin swells over top of it. Scar tissue will heal over, but it will not stretch, so the skin around the wound will continue to stretch and pull on the scar, which has a tendency to split the surface when it is still small like that.

My 982 went full term in 2016 with a raccoon bite on 6 DAP. It was an awful nervous ride on that one, but you can see in this link how far the 5 claw marks have stretched from each other in just 2 weeks time.

It is possible to keep that pumpkin, but from past experiences, my best advice would be to learn from your mistake for future years and try to get another one going if you can. The wound being where it will be covered once your pumpkin swells is concerning, and will almost certainly hold water where it is located, so there is a high likelihood that rot will develop where you cannot see it. If you do decide to keep the pumpkin because of lack of better options, I would suggest measuring your pumpkin regularly once you can no longer see the entire wound, as this will give you an idea if and when it stops growing. Also keep it as dry as possible, dust it with fungicide, and if you're a praying man, now is the time to start.

I have had something similar, but from a tarp burn. Like Dustin said, the scar section heels but then doesn't stretch so it loses some of its potential shape. Here are some before and after, but it made it. Your situation is also different because it's on the bottom. good luck.

I had one that a squirrel attacked & it made it fine ! And the spot that the scare is in is better than up higher in my opinion !! IT may go heavy also as pumpkin tries to heal itself from inside ! mine went 35% heavy !

Sometimes scar tissue can stretch to some extent (maybe not always) I took a shovel to one of mine a couple years ago and the wound did crack and stretch out as the pumpkin under it grew. I dont know if lack of uv light will doom it but you can try painting some fungicide (Daconil?) on it asap, then keep the dirt under it dry. Adding a fan might be ideal.
