Looks like you only have photophobia where the new tender vine ends are sitting on hot plastic... I could be wrong...hope it works out

Except that the vine is soft 3' behind where the plastic is cut. Plus there are vines on plastic that aren't wilted, there are also 2ndaries that the 1st leaf from the main is wilted, the next 3 are not

Part of me hopes you are right, it's my sons plant and I told him 2 days ago to cut the plastic back. I have cut 8' of the main off, I'll see what it looks like tomorrow.

The vine tips just need to get their roots established. Too much plant and not enough water to move up and down the plant. Did it bounce back?

Dang my wife has photophobia too. She won’t go near my patch or help me with a damn thing!

I cut more away this afternoon, also cut plastic and sprayed the plant with water. Most of the wilted leaves recovered. He lost a lot of plant, but should still get a good kin

He learned a tough lesson, maybe next time I tell him he needs to cut the plastic, or water, or whatever, he'll do it.

Easy mistake to make...tell him there’s plenty of time to recover...and be glad it’s not photoforbia...good luck

Yes, he still has plenty of time. He was early on his pollination anyway.
