Noticed alot of guys have got things started. Thats great! I decided to hold off as our current weather and forcast is not looking good at all. I have put plants out other years just because of what the calander says. All the plant does is sit and waits for some warmth. My normal seed starting time is April 20th but I could be May 5-10 the way things are looking. Would like to hear what others are doing in the the same situation.

We are a little late getting started this year too, but mainly because I’m golfing too much and not concentrating on pumpkins. Here in British Columbia, planting time is usually late April to first weekend in May.

My time in La Fayette, NY to start my seeds is TODAY, April 25th! Yippee. Supposed to be putting a 709 Poirier and a 743 Gatewood in the Germination Bucket right about n... In a minute, lol--- See, every year, the weather straightens up before my plants are fully unfurled and lovely and this year was supposed to be an early, April 18th - 20th start date. Ah, well, at least I know it's ME---Good luck with yours - eg

After talking to many of the top growers at the GPC seminar & to other top growers through emails, getting your plants in a week earlier can have huge benefits at season's end. Our goal is to get an early start. However the weather isn't cooperating very well today with heavy rain.
We got our hoop houses up & heating cables installed yesterday. Just need it to dry up & warm up the soil. Plants were started on April 20th & are now up & growing quickly.
We started 3 - 1959 Hunt, a 2145 Mcmullen & a 1855 Matesa. All seeds are up & growing well. We have room for 2 plants this year, so we're planning on going with the 2145 Mcmullen & 1 of our own 1959. The best plant so far is one of our 1959's. It is almost 2x the size of all the other plants. Hopefully it's a good sign.
Good luck all.
