when the park carved my 1258 (1450 x 1385 - taping 1030 lbs)it had a very tiny cavity and was full of hard dime size calcium balls all over the place.( was loaded with seeds as well) she was orange all season.
thats what id like to get in a pumpkin taping 1,500 pounds. wheeeeeeeeee-ohhh mamma dunk. fact of the matter is if i had not lost the base and part of the plants vitality early on? it may have done just that.
funny thing though. the pumpkin pinged when it was patted down and did not pat down at all like a heavy pumpkin.in fact i would have sworn it would weight light, somewhere in the mid nines. so much for the ping test-lol
any of you have any surprise experiences with any of your pumpkins

Pap, my 1428 Revier fruit was the same way. Loaded with balls. Thumped like it was 10% light. About 10" thick though and 15% heavy at 1245#. About a thousand seeds, but 25 good ones.... :(

Pap, just what are calcium balls? When I cut open my 490.5 Fraley (1002 Pukos x 1424.5 Werner) it was about 6" thick and full of seeds, most seeds where half white and half tan, many white immature seed and only a few all tan. I wanted to take a picture of the inside but the dang camera batteries died. I also had lots of germinated seeds, with cots and roots. Went heavy at Weigh Off. I havent cut open my other which is 813 Fraley (1424.5 Werner x 1102 Pukos) will make sure I have my camera ready.

Paps, are you talking about those hard woody balls that hang out around the seeds?

Just think 1500 with that % heavy were into the 1800's. One step closer to 2000 pounds
