I have grown a few Atlantic Giants, they always were Yellow when they were small. I bought a pack of dills AG at Lowes and they are Green.. and not very big. Did I get a bad pack?

I have seen them start out green, and then turn orange. There is also a chance that you got a giant squash seed, which is the same variety as the atlantic giant. Do the leaves look like a normal AG plant?

Remember it has to be 100% green, grey or blue to be considered a squash!...:-)

RVD, I saw your diary. Sadly it appears to be a hard stemmed pumpkin and not an AG, sorry to break the bad news to you.

Yep, thats what I thought too now. I sent a nasty email to ferry morse. They offered to send me 3 new packs. I told them its kinda LATE for that. Hopefully next year I can find someone to swap seeds with. I have the BEST Cherokee Purple tomato seeds, right from my grandmothers garden, and she is a real Eastern band Cherokee. They are just about as big as my stinky regular pumpkins LOL!!! I bought some Big Max and soaked and filed them and put them on my hot water heater to sprout. they did in 24 hrs. then into peat pots and under a grow light 24 hrs a day, they are growing fast. maybe sorta big pumpkins by halloween.

rvd520 ask on this site during the winter and I'm sure that somebody will offer you quality seeds from their own pumpkins.

Can someone check my Grower diary and let me know if my NEW plants are really AG's? I hate to waste all this fish emulsion and stuff on them if they aren't.. Thanks!!!

The green entry from June 30 is a pepo pumpkin. It'll turn orange in the fall.
That bigger plant in the last entry could be an AG. There is no being sure until a fruit gets going. If you did get the seeds at Lowe's they should be legit. Howard Dill, Inc does supply them with real AG seeds albeit not the quality genetics traded here.

The new entry appears to be C. maxima so you look good to go so far.

Thank you Wayne for some awsome seed for next year. I think I got an AG growing now, hopefully its not too late. Check my grower diary. Any tips? Im giving 1 oz of liquid kelp in a gallon of water every other day, fish emulsion 1 time a week and normal morning watering. If there is anymore I should be adding to make it to the finish with at least a 100 pounder please let me know!!!
