I was going to start a similar thread. I keep changing my mind LOL. Currently I plan on: 603.5 Muller 03(one or two plants) 364.1 Andrews 06...I'm very tempted by this one. 603.5 X 670. If I only grow one 603.5, I may grow another orange producer.

These are the seeds I picked up this year 88 Webster 08 (772 Poirier x 1689 Jutras) 1004 Mohr 08 (772 Poirier x 1317 Rose) 666 Dill 08 (772 Poirier x 998 Pukos) 587 Dill 08 (730 Dill x 998 Pukos) 583 Young 08 (670 Daigle x 772 Poirier) 1054 Lawson 08 (364 Webster x 730 Dill) The 730 Dill is 1016 Daletas x 810 Dill Hey LB I think the 780 DeBacco would be more orangier than the 666 Dill but the 666 has more size potential

Between three growing partners: 1004 Mohr 08(772 Poirier x 1317 Rose) 884 Ornskov 06(500 Northrup x 1233 Reiss) 804 Vincent-McGill 07(670 Daigle x 1180 Daletas) 786 Veader 08 (1069 Zunio x 500 Northrup) 746 Snyder 06 (1210 Kline x 364 Webster) 695 Young 08 (588 Young x 670 Daigle) 646 Story 05 (710 Companion x 1180 Daletas) 615 Jaser 06 (589 Dill x 846 Calai) 563 Strange 08 (660 Dill x self) 264 Strange 08 (588 Young x 660 Dill)

my favorite four:
996 Dwelly (772 Poirier x 1566 Rodonis) 250 Perham (772 Poirier x 1385 Jutras) 993 Vincent/McGill (772 Poirier x 998 Pukos) 1004 Mohr (772 Poirier x 1317.5 Rose)
I really like that Dwelly pumpkin and think we need a big heavy pollinator to be able to make shiny orange pumpkins compete in the grand scheme of things. I don't think its impossible to imagine given the color that is coming through with the 998, 1385, and the Rodonis seeds.
I'm hoping to cross the 772 with a 898 or a 1450 this year.

Don't forget the 1069 Zunino 07. (1191 Zunino x 1450 Wallace) The 1450 pollinator produced the mostly smooth white 7% heavy 1244 Zunino.
This seed has not been grown competitively but was grown commercially last year, about 8 plants. All offspring were orange, mostly bright smooth orange. A picture of one unofficial offspring is at: http://bigpumpkins.zunino.net/lah7.jpg
This seed may produce the biggest orange surprise of the year!

Orangeneck,
I "helped" Carl Lawson (85) grow the 1054 Lawson 2008. (364 Webster X 730 Dill) E-mail me at veader@sonic.net for a photo.
There is one on seedoutlet.com, too.

Chuck, Did the 730 Dill pollinator that Mr. Lawson used, have a pumpkin on it? If so, how was the color?

Doug,
The 730 Dill ('06) that I grew had a beautiful orange pumpkin on it that developed a blossom end split. The plant was very healthy and I also used the 730 pollen on my 1014 Veader (500 Northrup X 730 Dill).
I was using a new camera last summer and can probably find photos of the plant and the fruit if you are interested. My email address is in the post above.

I Figure since I started the post I should at least give a Rough Lineup:
703 Guns 08 (1009 Young x 778 Liggett) 1102 Pukos 08 (1159 Richards x 998.6 Pukos) 1004 Mohr 08 (772 Poirier x 1317.5 Rose) 897 Davies 04 (845 Bobier x 1260.4 Weir)
I really Like the 1102 Pukos, I think this seed is going to bring it home for the orange growers. This seed is 75% 998 Pukos and 25% 919 Richards The Size and color combo should be Terrific!

We are planning on growing:
868 Marsh (772 Poirier X 919 Richards)We would have made this cross last year but didn't get to grow last year. Kevin Marsh's fruit was 34% heavy! This may be the anomaly that pushes orange into the heavy competition. we will backcross it with the 772.
